An Evening With Mr. Edison

Mom is turning the big 6-0 ya'll! To celebrate her milestone birthday I asked her to fly out so I could show her the sights and treat her to a fun, amazing birthday weekend, like only LA (and a slightly crazy son) can provide!

We started with The Edison as soon as she landed - my favorite new bar/club in downtown Los Angeles. It was Thomas Edison's old lab around the turn of the century, and they recently converted it into an amazing club - complete with his old restored equipment. I can't begin to describe how cool it is.
Mom of course dressed the part - it's a 1920's classy, dressy theme, and she did it up right! Performing that night was Big Willie's Burlesque!
Some people thought Mom was hired to be there for the club. So fun!
Awwwww. ;)
My amazing friend Peter came by to meet the infamous Mama Lowenstein, and also so I wasn't the only supertall dude there. ;)

I have a love/hate relationship with Peter and Tara - they both are super amazing, fun, cool people, but dammit they can't take a bad photo to save their life. It's not fair! ;) PJ, whatcha lookin' at budddddy?

We almost made it through the night without mom sharing an "I was in labor for 100 billion hours" story, but alas, it wasn't meant to be.
It was an amazing night and such a fantastic way to start off Mom's 60th (!!) birthday weekend! HUGE shout out to my amazing friends who came downtown to party with us - Peter, Angelina, Sebastian, Tara, PJ - ya'll friggin ROCK! Adoption papers in the mail. XO

Bday Party, Vegas Style!

This weekend I had an AMAZING time partying it up in Vegas! My boy Fred was turning 29ish and and 46(!!) of his closest friends came out to party it up with him!

It was so much fun, many amazing photos, some hilarious, some really can't be blogged. ;) Friday night started off with a suite party at our hotel - THEhotel at Mandalay Bay!
W/Chad & Brad - and probably the last picture taken with my liver still in working order. C'est la vie...

I wasn't too camera happy on Friday night (WTF, right?), but we did head out later that night for some dancing:
W/the gorgeous Jenn who was a professional dancer and was deff professionally amazing.
Chad and I got all Street when Sasha Fierce was on, ya'll!

It was a really fun night that kept going and going and ended in the wee hours of the morning... it was clear this was going to be an amazing weekend and I had already decided that Fred & Jason had great friends.
Look kids, Vegas during the daylight! It's notsopretty.

After Brad and I hit up the Caesar's Forum shops, we had dinner that night at House of Blues, where I will forever heart my newest BFF's Mike and Erin:
As they practically shouted "OMFG It's Jamy Winehouse!" when they saw me at dinner - yep they recognized me from Halloween. How funny is that? They were so cool to hang out with and it was great to get to know them better out of costume - altho I suppose Jamy might be a bit more fun to hang out with then lil ol' me. ;)

After dinner we stopped at Mix at the top of Mandalay, it's one of the best views in Vegas:
Such a great view! Plus we seriously walked by three plasticsized messes in the bar - they were like walking billboards to not over do plastic surgery. URGH! It was a World Of No in their faces.

Next was another suite party which was a total blast:
Word to the wise: If Fred offers to make you a margarita. Say yes, turn in your keys, and ready the Tylenol for tomorrow. Yum!

Next it was off to The Pussycat Dolls lounge at PURE for their show and more dancing! And because I'm a jackass, I will now give you quotes I heard* while taking these pictures from the lovely Dolls.

Heheh, all stupid jokes aside, they rocked the house and we had a blast. They were really fun to see and put on a great show!

Next it was on to the outer hangout area of PURE for a bit of dancing...
Jenn and Andrew are so cool! They were a blast to hang with.

With Christina and Beth who were soooo funny, I almost dislocated my jaw. You can sorta see it hanging on hinges here.

We set the dancefloor on fire and danced for many, many hours. It was SO MUCH FUN!

Aaaaaand the acrobatic girls are still freaking me the F out. Seriously, that just doesn't look natural.

All in all it was an amazing weekend, filled with lots of laughs, tons of dancing, partying, and most of all meeting a ton of incredible new people.

Some Raveonettes And A Lil Windy City

Last Saturday I made my way out to the Henry Fonda Music Box in Hollywood with Josh to see one of my favorite bands:

The Raveonettes! They do 50's and 60's style music - but are a Danish rock band. Yes, it's that awesome.

You may remember the last post I did on them in 2008, I've seen them 3 times since I've moved to LA and every show has been great.
They did a range of music from their last several albums...
And sounded freaking amazing.
Oh, their lighting rocks too. :)

Tuesday I braved the airports, insane lines, grumpy people, and bad weather to venture from LA to Oregon to see mi familia. LA was sunny and 65 when I left...
Those crazy Baywatch chicks were still running, hoping their show gets picked up again...
Run Yasmin, Run from obscurity! Ahem...
I traveled through the clouds - it was sunny up there! So purdy.
Then... then there was Seattle. Cold. Dark. Gloomy. It felt like London, but with better teeth.

After a few hours of delays, and getting out before the new storm came in, I made it HOME! Dad was tired and crashed, so Mom and I started taking silly photos...
Mom welcomed me as the Christmas Fairy, the character she entertains all the kids in Drain at every year for their annual Christmas party.
Mom has an imaginary staff of elves, represented by the hats and stockings.
What's sad is, she really did have a staff of little people, however, with the sinking economy she had to let them all go. She still talks to them every day....
Which I admit, is somewhat addictive. I yelled at them, but how else are we going to bring profits back up 30%? DAMMIT WILSON GET OFF THE BLACKBERRY WHEN I'M TALKING!
Awww. :) The tree looks great this year!
I'm so excited for Grayson, my new lil nephew to arrive! I borrowed his chair.

One thing you may not know about Mom....

Well this weekend was kind of ridiculously fun! I had a blast hanging out with great friends, which I really needed given what's been going on lately. Tonight was especially amazing, I headed to The Trevor Project's Cracked Xmas, a charity benefit at The Wiltern Theater in Los Angeles.
The Trevor Project is an amazing charity that runs the nation's only suicide hotline for LGBTQ youth. Sadly, an LGBTQ youth is FOUR times more likely to commit suicide then their straight counterpart. Also, suicide is the THIRD highest cause of death in teens. They run a great service and it was fantastic to support a good cause. The party also happens to be INSANELY FUN!!

There was of course a red carpet:

Selma Blair, star of Hellboy, Cruel Intentions, etc etc, and now Kath and Kim, came to show her support along with her TV Husband Mikey Day!
"Well I'm here for two reasons, Barbara. First, charity. Secondly, I'm really excited to finally meet Darion."

ZOMG she's like one of the nicest celebs ever. Not to mention INSANELY pretty. The picture doesn't do her justice! I told her what a big fan of hers I was - seriously, since Cruel Intentions and Zoe/Duncan/Jack and Jane (WB show from 10 years ago), and she was like "awww you are so sweet! Thanks for coming.". I sorta died. But after the paramedics revived me, it was all good!

The show started with the cast of Spring Awakening singing a few songs. They sounded great!
Selma and Mikey came on stage to talk about The Trevor Project. At this point I shouldddd mention there was an open bar. Soooo ... let's just say there was a lot of chatter. ;)

Wanda Sykes came out and performed a hilarious set - she had us cracking up! Wanda talked a bit about prop 8 and how it really upset her and her wife of FOURTEEN years, and did a hilarious bit about Esther - her gut, who fights with her Spanx underwear. Apparently, Esther really likes cheesecake, and hates Spanx, and tries to break free. Hahaha
Apparently Esther broke free of her Spanx when she was on The Tonight Show. :)

Brooke Smith, AKA the lesbian doctor on Grey's Anatomy came out and spoke for a bit.

Can't remember what about. Honestly, a bunch of music came on while she was talking like a Grey's montage, and I spaced out, cried a little, and then changed the channel to watch Heroes.
Rachel Zoe and her assistant... uhm... well I called him "15 minutes", cuz he don't deserve that fame ya'll, came out to stand there like zombies while the blonde chick on the right auctioned off a bunch of stuff for the charity. It was great because they raised a TON of money. Rachel Zoe seemed super uncomfortable - especially for a tv personality - was really quiet and only said a few words. SOMEONE forgot to mix their uppers with their downers!!! Oh Rachel, you are my favorite amateur.
LOOK KIDS! It's Anne Hathaway! She came out early during the auction, to auction HERSELF! She said "I didn't realize there was going to be an auction tonight. So I figured I'd come out and sell myself. However much you think I'm worth, I'll take you out and get you WASTED." :D
So funny! Homegirl went for $12,000!
Sarah Chalke came out and gave a great speech. I heart her! She's so funny. She's also in the hilarious funny Prop 8: The Musical sketch. She's great on How I Met Your Mother and of course Scrubs!

Next up Fantasia Barrino came out to ROCK the freaking house. Dayumn! Girl. Can. Sing.
Seriously, GREAT voice. No lipsyncing here!
She also ended up singing her songs in the crowd! She did one of her own and Purple Rain. It was great to see her really work the crowd and get people all into it.

Next up Lesley Jordan came out with a hilarious story of growing up with a highly conservative family in Tennesee and of course opened with "I smell gin and regret. Is that you Karen Walker?" - one of his famous lines from Will and Grace. He was great!
At the end Anne came out and gave a speech about Sigourney Weaver - she was there to give her a Trevor Life Honoree award! They previewed Sigourney's new Lifetime movie based on a true story, Prayers For Bobby, about a highly religious mother who's son comes out to her and ends up killing himself. It looks amazing and she gives quite the performance.

... It's all right, I'm okay, move along people, nothing to see hereeeeee.
Sigourney talked about working on the movie (that took 13 years to get greenlit), meeting the family, and talked about how if Trevor Project had been around when Bobby was alive he probably wouldn't have comitted suicide. Sad.

*I may or may not have yelled this. Did I mention the open bar?
Her speech was amazing and of course garnered a standing ovation!
Our seats were high up, but it was still a great vantage point. Aaaah, my nose is bleeding! ;)
Sadly, that was the end of the show, but one thing wasn't complete:
OK, kids, I'm not kidding. We were by the bar (go figure), I saw her walk in - she's like 6'3" in heels, and I got kinda :O feeling. So I literally jogged over, politely said hi and asked her for a photo. She graciously accepted and I told her she was one of my favorite actresses ever and thanked her so much for being here. She smiled warmly and said "My pleasure!" and we may have ... had a moment. I ran back to the gang and my heart was POUNDING, my hands were even shaking.
I know, I'm a geek, but dude, it's RIPLEY! I'm just glad I was able to talk to her without blacking out. :)

After the super fun night, it was off to get pizza and then hit a bar or two before calling it a night with the gang:
We had such a great time! I'm truly blessed to have so many amazing friends! Funfunfun!

Halloween with Jamy Winehouse

WOW. I had so much fun last night, it probably should have been illegal. I have been working on my costume for Halloween 2008 for a bit, trying to think of something cool.... and I did! I channeled Jamy Winehouse, Amy's fictional but equally cracked out and insane brother. I donned full rocker gear and a very crazy british accent, which I'm proud to say I kept up the WHOLE night! Whew! OK there's a lot of goodness to share... so let's get on with the pics!
We started the festivities at Brian's pad, and helped him assemble letters: He was amazingly creative in his role as a mailman, and actually had letters made up for various costume types, so when he ran into people he could give them a letter! lol! Sexy Jesus and Jamy posed for a photo op as well:Yup! Straight to hell. Not passing Go, not getting $200.
Jesus harassed the cab driver on the way over. "You know I died for your sins, right?"... yeah it was so funny, we were cracking the hell up! Luckily the cab driver didn't kick us out. :) It made for a VERY entertaining ride though.

Next it was on to my friends Fred and Jason's house for their huge annual Halloweenie party! Open bar, and all the proceeds went to charity - what more can you ask for? This lady kept saying something about "OFF WITH THEIR HEADS!". Heheh, us English folk are all crazy. Christ wafers, surprisingly, taste like chocolate. (Straight to hell, people, I'm not even kidding)

It's been a fun action packed week! I had to share some of these photos before the weekend hits and I'm too busy to blog!

Wednesday night I met up with Jordan to go to Declare Yourself, a party centered on getting young people to vote. It was at The Green Door, one of the hotter nightclubs in Hollywood.
The Paparazzi went CRAZY for Hayden Panatierre. Jessica Alba was supposed to be there too but I don't think she showed. Hayden's like a lil person...
I had to practically get on my knees for the photo. Ahhh, actors. She co-hosted the evening.

This one.... uhm... the 'less' whorish one, kept staring. Yeah... Hi. They sounded pretty good live, and only psuedo lipsynced some bits. :)
Aubrey O'Day, the 'really' whorish one, moves like a stripper on stage. It's impressive.

I had a blast hanging with Jordan, I haven't been able to see him much lately do to his habit of flying all over the world constantly. :)

Tonight I went to the opening of Knott's Scary Farm (Knott's Berry Farm converts into a full on Halloween theme, complete with actors and haunted mazes everywhere), thanks to my friend Vince. His friend Stephen organizes it, and we met up with Robb and Tanya - fun group!!
We of course started the night with a haunted buffet - and yes, they had people roaming around scaring you. Several items of food hit the floor, and in our group - I won't say who - but someone lost both a brownie and a chicken leg due to being scared. :D

Kidding! FINE! GO! WOO!

I was so impressed how many actors they had. Hundreds were roaming around EVERYWHERE. As you walk along, you frequently get spooked. They had metal clasps in their gloves they could smack to make sound, it was really freaky! The makeup ranged from masks to amazing. There were at least 8 haunted houses, and they were WAY better then anything I've ever been in before. It was really fun and genuinely scary!!
This freaky clown took a liking to Vince and followed him... for awhile. It wasn't weird till we realized IT WAS A FREAKING CLOWN AND ALL CLOWNS SHOULD BURN IN THE FIERY DEPTHS OF.... ahem. Scuse me.
This rollercoaster was so full of AWESOME! The cars were shaped like freaking PONIES! The only way it could have been better is if they were unicorns! Yay!

Now, an important part of any holiday and theme park is complete crap and nutrionless, guilt laden crap food. We did our part to continue this:

Horrible photo on my part, but this chick rocked. She was walking with like a dozen bird cages ... and... well it was cool.
Did I mention I'm betrothed? She's a lil older, a lil deader, but she doesn't say much, which is nice. She's also voting for Obama, McCain "gives her scary oldperson nightmares". Go figure.
Did I mention that following Tanya was amazing? In ALL the haunted houses, I and the other guys rarely got picked on... they always ALWAYS singled out 'the blonde girl'. :) Good times!

She even made friends with a ... thing who had a rat in his mouth. Yeah, he flicked the rat tail on her a few times... it was like some kind of cute courtship.
We had a blast, and I highly recommend going! Thanks to Stephen for organizing the whole night and Knotts for making such a fun mix - zombies, horror, mazes, roller coasters, and junk food. It doesn't get much better then that!

It's been a wild and crazy/fun week - and it's only Wednesday! Ehr... Thursday now. I have an action packed weekend ahead, so I figured I better post these pics!

On Tuesday eve I met up with Trent, Josh, Loy, Brad, Randy, and Ben for a showing of Hamlet 2 at the Arclight:
It was pretty funny! We laughed a lot. Amy Poehler was amazing as always. It wasn't as good as I had hoped, but Rock Me Sexy Jesus is worth the admission alone.

We found a few photo ops after:

After it was off to Hyde to see my girl Sara to wish her a happy Bday in style!

Oh... and did I mention it was also the Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency's wrap party? Oh, yeah. So there were like, literally, dozens of models. Everywhere. It was a little insane. You couldn't throw a bump of coke without hitting a model in the ... nose. ;)
Manny rocks! He's such a great DJ, everyone had a blast!
The classic wall dancing started early. I dunno what move the dude in the vest here is doing, but the lil blonde I named Sunny McBosom seemed to enjoy it.
This lady had a few.
Drinks.
Which, much to our amusement, meant that shortly thereafter:
She pulled Sara up onto the wall and literally accosted her. On the wall. The flashes went crazy and everyone got pictures... yeah... good times. :) Poor Sara.

But what about the other side of the room?
Yeah, more model-infused wall dancing. Good times. It was an amazing night at Hyde!

After Hyde we hit up East/West so Sara could belt out a few tunes:
Drunk birthday karaoke = AWESOME.

Wednesday we continued Sara's bday celebration by attending the Paley Center's launch for ABC TV Shows, featuring Pushing Daisies, Private Practice, and Eli Stone...
It was fun but the event was a bit of a bust. Hardly any celebs showed, but we did pseudo stalk Swoosie Kurtz. :) Here she is.... btw she's so insanely skinny in person!

After it was off to Marix for way too much Mexican food - I'm not eating for a day or three, I swear:

Wedding Bells For RyMar

Today I made the trek down to Newport Beach to celebrate the union of my good friend Ryan to his beautiful bride Marsha - whom I hereby dub with the celebrity couple name RyMar. :) Cruising down in the LexPrius was great (Handles surprisingly well 75mph, while still getting 45mpg .... ohhh yeah!), and they had a gorgeous setup at the Orange County Museum of Art.
The main area was decorated beautifully!

Time for some vows, ya'll! Meanwhile, I was still impressed that:
Aliah, my BFF cousin who was my guest for the wedding, never seems to have a bad hair day.
Ryan's sister in law Lani sang a really pretty song during the ceremony.

They are now Mr. and Mrs. RyMar! :D
It was a great ceremony and everyone seemed to enjoy it! Aliah, stop crying! Seriously! ;)

But what happened next was just plain shock and awe:
THEY SERVED BOBA TEA! Yes! Seriously, you guys, best wedding drink evarrrr. :D You get a five star rating for serving boba (tapioca balls in flavored tea drink) there. So fun!! I was shocked.... and then quickly overcame the shock by having two.... or three glasses. :D
The invitations, guides, etc were all super cute and featured little caricatures of RyMar. :)
Oh look, Aliah has discovered the bar! Are we shocked? ;)
The appetizers were amazing, from the sushi, to the grape balls covered in cheese & ground nuts, mango pieces with mint and honey, etc... yum!

They had an AMAZING slideshow created by Lani for them - definitely the best I've ever seen. It featured pictures from their childhoods up through adult life, friends, school, etc, all timed and sequenced to great music.

Ryan named our table Super Puzzle Fighter 2.... DUDE you rock. :) He and I used to play that every day back in Carlsbad at the office... sadly, he routinely kicked my ass, but I often gave him a run for his money. :D

Strange Labor Daze

Hey peeps! I hope you had a great labor day! Mine was good, but not what I expected! It started out with the CW/90210 launch party in Weho:
Smart Water apparently hearts that 13-19 demographic. They also heart bitchy backstabbing storylines involving drugs, sex, and good looking late 20-something actors playing 16 year olds. :)

Sara was my date for the night and we had a blast! Afterwards we hit East/West lounge and called it a night...

Friday I went to see my friend Josh for a haircut, and was rudely interrupted on the way home by my piece of crap Chrysler product, a Jeep Grand Cherokee, falling apart and dying, again. I've been dealing with car probs for a few months now and it's gone from annoying to dangerous.

Long story short, the car died, I'll never buy an American car again, and luckily my family & friends were there to help me out. Aliah came up from the OC to hang and cheer me up:
We met Angela and Deborah for Happy Hour at Baja Cantina. YUM! The booze helped. It was great to get my mind off things for a bit.
P.S. Aliah showed up as soon as she heard the words Margarita. It flows through her veins.

On Saturday my ridiculously kind and smart friend Vince drove me all over LA car shopping! We had a blast, it was really fun trying out many different cars. I was back and forth and then drove a Toyota Prius and loved it... and had to have it! As most of you probably know, the Prius is near impossible to buy right now and even used models are going for $30k, with wait lists of 3 months on new ones...

Well Toyota happened to have 7 shipped in that morning and I got my paws on a brand new one!
Vince, my secret weapon and I with my new baby. It's a top of the line, rare Touring Edition, with Navigation, bluetooth, Xenon headlamps, speech system, etc etc etc. LOVES IT! As you can tell, the plastic was still on it... Vince coached me through the whole process and I ended up talking them down quite a bit in price.

And it only had ONE mile on it! I was the first person ever to drive it, w00t!
New, safe car that doesn't break down every 5 seconds = happy Darion! So, I have a new car, I LOVE IT, and it drives like a dream. Yay!!

I took it easy most of the weekend due to the stress of the car breaking down/etc, and had a few peeps over for BBQ'in on Monday:

I asked Ang to wait on me hand and foot, and she was a little slow. You'll notice she didn't even carry the chips around with her. Honestly, is it so much to ask? Service these days... I didn't tip 20% to say the least.
Helen, Julie, Vince, and Ang and I had a great time by the pool! You'll note Vince chugged the Margarita straight from the jar - I figured I owed him 5 or 6 of those for the car help. :)

Later on Yasmin and her supercool friend visiting all the way from Detroit swung by. We ate a bunch and then headed down to visit the jacuzzi:

I guess there sorta was. :) She had to put her clothes back on after 3 car accidents, and a plane crash happened. I did warn her....
We had a great time, it was really fun hanging out with everyone and taking it easy this weekend. And I'm in lurve with my new Prius! Going from 14mpg to 48mpg kinda rocks. :)

Hey peoples! As you can imagine I've been pretty slammed with work-related stuff lately, so my bloggin' time has been non existent.

I'm HOME!!!!! As you all probably know, you can take the boy out of Oregon, but the Oregon doesn't really leave the boy so easily. I've made it back home to Ma and Pa's place and it's been a great trip so far! After landing on Friday we saw Kung Fu Panda which was really cute.

Arriving at home it looked as though the new signs dad put up are keeping folks out:That, or maybe it's Bast, the vicious man-eating wolf dog. Hmm. :D
Challenging Bast for the title of Cute Overload Pet is Flash/Crack Baby (name TBD, he's insane though). He's like the cutest and most hyper kitten.... ever. He's basically a walking youtube video. He walks down the street, and people get kicked in the balls. Supermodels fall on their face. It's great!

I won't mention the homecooked food much, but I've been... eating. Pretty much nonstop. This isn't a videoblog because my shirt is covered in crumbs. Organic, whole grain from the garden crumbs.
All the other kitties are on strike (they have like 20 or something). They hate the new babykitty! :(

Sunday we went down to visit Damien and took the scenic route, which had lots of history on how the railroads in Oregon were built and how over 100,000 Chinese came in to help build it. Sad history as in the 1800's all people were NOT treated equally.
The country was gorgeous tho!
These folks were mining for gold.... yes, real life gold panners in the 'crik'. Up and down the crik they looked for shiny stuff (and drank Hamm's).

One of the funny things about Oregon: Beautiful country, notsomuch to do. So, lots of drinking, lots of shooting things.
To be fair tho, that bathroom sign had it coming.
This railroad crossing sign also had it coming, with it's stupid shape, and uhm... color.
Someone put a sign on here that said "dirty tree huggin' hippies want to take your guns! Inside here!"

Today (Monday) we all went whitewater rafting on Hellgate Jetboat Tours in Grants Pass Oregon, which was a total blast!
See us here dry. It didn't last.
This was right after a giant tidal wave dumped about 30 gallons of water ON MY FREAKING FACE. I was soaked to the bone! :D
We were a loud, rowdy bunch!
Mom got SOAKED. :D hahaha
I don't think there's a prettier place to raft! We saw TONS of wildlife, like bald eagles, ospreys, deer, turtles, etc.

Kirsten and I met Trent at the Buffy Sing Along @ the LA Film Festival in 2007, and we had been talking about going to Sunnydale (AKA Torrence) for awhile to see Buffy's house and school... and yesterday we went! Trent did a fantastic post on it that you must read here!

I Heart Coldplay - Live At The Forum!

Last night was easily one of the best concerts I've ever been to in my life - and ya'll know what a concert whore I am. I have to start off with BIG props to my amazing friend Josh who hooked me up with FLOOR seats to the very sold out show - the seats were some of the best I've ever had and I can't think him enough. YOU ROCK, SIR!!! :)
Coldplay had two shows at The Forum in Inglewood - and we saw the first show of the tour!! It's a lil ghetto there in Inglewood, but as arenas go it's not too ginormous. The acoustics are good and they sounded SO GREAT!
They have these giant balls lowered from the ceiling they projected video inside - it was pretty cool!
They change the backdrop several times, love the Viva La Vida cover art!
The lighting in the show was AMAZING, so good!!

Cameron joined me for the festivities and we had a blast. Amazing seats, and such a great show!

The band was SUPER into it and I haven't seen a crowd react like that in quite some time. Chris Martin really comes alive on stage and was like a crazy rocker banshee - doing jumps, rolling on the floor, etc while performing...

They of course had a bunch of security so as to not be mobbed.
Did I mention how awesome the lighting was?
The drummer sang one song solo that was kinda ... interesting.
Go guitarist #2! I love how no one can name anyone in Coldplay except Chris Martin. I told guitarist #2 he should date Madonna for a few weeks to get famous. It seems to work for baseball players.
Sing it Chris!! He played the piano and was so jazzed during the songs that he rocked back and forth on the stool like a madman. It was great! The energy in the arena was fantastic.

Towards the end of the show they shoot out THOUSANDS of butterflies - it's gorgeous! They are made of all types of paper, some shiny....
They they fire up huge black lights so all the butterflies glow. It was gorgeous and beautiful and amazing! YES ALL THREE!

Newcastle screening @ the DGA

On Sunday my friends Steph & Alek invited me to go see Newcastle at the Director's Guild of America. It was quite fun! Newcastle is an Australian movie about surfers, check out the website for more info!

The director Joe Castle was there and spoke about the filming - it took 5 years to get financing after he finished the script, ugh! The cinematography is AMAZING in the film and some of the water shots they got were just fantastic. They had 3 photographers from the Quicksilver team there to help get the shots they needed.

I know I've been a bad blogger lately... I've been so focused on my career I haven't put time in to many other things. Anyways, things are looking up, and I've of course had a blast with my friends every night as always. Last night was no exception as we gathered to celebrate Trent's birthday:
We had a total blast! It was so much fun. He posted it here, I recommend checking it out (http://pinkisthenewblog.com/home/chick-fil-a-rock-band-bestbirthdayever/)- lots of fun pics and assorted crazyness! We started the night out by eating for free at Chick-fil-A in Torrance (they hooked him up!):
Yeah, we packed away the food! It was so fun. :) I got a ton of sh** for ordering a salad, but I also had a chicken sandwich and the amazing waffle fries (burrrpp).

The CFA cow joined us for some good times. The "Eat Mor ChickN" cow is of course their spokesperson and was quite friendly. He however kept asking us for bites of the food...

Trent has a way of telling people no with the best smile on his face. Loves it!

After gorging, we came back to my place for a night full of drinks and Rock Band.

Trent's become an amazing friend who I've had the pleasure of knowing for a little over a year now (Him, Kirsten and I just celebrated our 1 year annivesary of meeting at the Buffy Sing Along!) and he's quickly become one of my favorite people. It was great to celebrate his 18th birthday together! Congrats, you can vote now!

David pretty much pwned the drums - he's like 1,000 times better then me at the drums. Last time I played someone asked me if I was legally retarded. Altho, to be fair, they said "legally special?".
It was a full house of great peeps!
We rocked out so hard we won a Deluxeliner Bus! Yeah baby!

Friday I met up with a bunch of friends but wasn't too camera happy (a first for moi), and met with Helen and her friend Esther for dinner and drinks:

Four Weddings And A TV Star

Made it over to The Abbey tonight to see the big commitment ceremony hosted by TR Knight (of Grey's Anatomy fame). My friends John & Jordan were apart of the ceremony, celebrating the recent Supreme Court ruling to make marriage equal for ALL couples. It was really fun!
No party is complete without papparazzi! TMZ was outside and apparently I missed Jay Leno by a few minutes... BOO! :(
P.S. OMFG the dude in the background with the pirate eye patch was killing me. I had to fight back a laugh every time I saw it.
My good friends and Uber-Bloggers Alek and Steph were there covering the event! :)

My newest BFF Loy met up with me there, we had a blast hanging out, I laughed so hard at one point wedding cake came out my nose.*

Loy got a pic with Judy Shepard, mom of Matthew Shepard. She, along with the mayor of Weho, gave a great speech and talked about the need for equality among ALL human beings. It was really cool.
It's interesting to see this huge civil rights movement happening firsthand - really the big one of my generation. It's hard to imagine that not that long ago - in our parents or grandparent's lifetimes - blacks were treated like second class citizens, women couldn't vote, racism was rampant... it's great to see the last few pieces of hatred and inequality are dying off and changing. There's a great article in Newsweek by Anna Quindlen that pretty much sums it up:

Last week the amazing Angela and I had quite the adventure - we attended the U of O Alumni event at the Beverly Hills hotel which was VERY posh!
I was her date for the night, so of course I was Dr. Hamish Von Shonvelt - famed celeb plastic surgeon.
Here we are posing in the gardens - the flash didn't quiet work, but trust me, we look fiiiinnneeee.
Anyone who knows Ang or me knows we technically shouldn't be allowed near cameras. When the two of us get together, it's, well - it's ... Britney-batshit-crazy-fun!!

Ang demanded I wait on her hand and foot the whole night:
Apparently the ashtray was "too goddamn clear, servant boy". :(

The papparazzi were EVERYWHERE - they caught me coming out of the bathroom:

Birthday Madness, 27 Style!

Well D-Lo Birthday Week 2008 comes to a close and I had a pretty awesome time. :) My friends showed up in force! My actual bday was Wednesday and I had a delicious dinner at Katsuya in Hollywood:
Trent, Mike, Eric (who has known me for 11 birthdays now!!!) and Jordan all came out to celebrate. The food was great and I had a blast!

Last night was the BIG party - one for the record books - I turned 27, or as my evite was labeled, I Turned Fetus!

We started off with dinner at Argentinian restaurant Tango Grill:
Steph and Alek and I took it quite literally and decided to Tango a bit right there!

After a dee-lish dinner the gang headed to Ultra Suede to start with the drinking and dancing - the club night called Cherry Pop! A ton of my friends came out and really helped make it an amazingly fun night for me:
Angela, Julie, and Vince came out to celebrate, and stayed out wayyyy past their bedtime to grind on the dancefloor. :)
"Whaaa whaaaaa?" Josh and I were surprised by something. Or drunk.
Paul, Mike, and Corey came out, and I apparently have a secret. Also, I apparently shrank 2 feet for this photo - will the wonders of Patron never cease?

Well that's all the pics I'm willing to posts on the internets... lol it was an amazing night and I had a BLAST! I am so lucky to have such a fun group of people to come out and drive from all over to party it up with me, it was a very memorable bday and deff the best yet!
